Depot Medroxyprogesterone acetate reduces spermatogonia cells and spermatid cells in the seminiferous tubules of male mice

Background: Until now the existing male contraceptive methods are periodic abstinence, interrupted intercourse (coitus interruptus), use of condoms, and vasectomy. Another alternative method contraception for men is hormone depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) as has been done in female contraceptives. Research with DMPA at a dose 1.25 mg was effective reducing concentration viability spermatozoa testosterone secretion rats.
 Aim: to discover if gonadotropin hormon could effectively inhibit process spermatogenesis mice.
 Methods: This research an experimental post-test control group design. A total 36 samples were grouped by simple random sampling into two groups. Control (P0): consisted 18 mice given 0.3 ml intramuscular aquabides. Treatment (P1): intramuscularly (IM) 3 much ml. Data obtained from examination mean 60 tubules (30 right testis 30 left testis) each treatment HE staining 400x magnification.
 Results: The results showed significant difference decrease number spermatogonia cells compared (9.83±2.33 vs 12.78±1.67 cells/tubule), p value = 0.000 (p<0.01) Spermatid (76.50±7.66 86.44±6.06 (p<0.01). administration significantly reduce spermatid seminal Conclusion: study have implications further on higher animals such rabbits, then clinical trials humans.
